PASS THE
PREGNANT PIGS ACT
because mothers don't belong in cages
WHAT'S THE PROBLEM??
Gestation and farrowing crates are barely bigger than a pig's own body. Pigs in Oregon can still be confined in these crates for 7 days before labor and 21 days after giving birth. The Pregnant Pigs Act will free Oregon's pigs from restrictive crates, and free consumers from unintentionally buying inhumane pork.

DIDN'T WE DO THIS ALREADY?
Oregon passed a ban on gestation crates in 2007 because people care about the welfare of animals.
But the law had a loophole, so pigs can still spend 1/6 of their lives unable to even turn around.
This amendment will eliminate the exception and ensure pigs can never be lawfully confined in crates in the state of Oregon.
